Great 8

My youngest daughter has a birthday party to go to this weekend so I made a birthday card for her friend today.

There is a Summer theme challenge this week at Tiddly Inks.  The temperature didn’t even make it into double figures here today and there was a big frost this morning but I enjoyed pretending it was warm :)

It’s a bright and happy card and I based my colouring of the girl on the papers that I used.  I also used MDS to create the sentiment and used the same colours; saffron, pool party, wasabi and real red so that everything coordinated.

My daughter said she thinks her friend will love it because “we’re not girly-girls. We’re hanging upside down kind of girls” :)

Ingredients :

Stamps : Wryn – Hanging around (Tiddlyinks), sentiment MDS

Card : wasabi, white, real red, storytime dsp

Ink :

Other : copics, real red button, bakers twine

It would be great to be 8 again wouldn’t it!  :)

First Christmas

I’ve just made my first Christmas card for the year.  Yay!!!

I am entering it into this weeks challenge at the Paper Players.  It’s a Clean and Simple challenge called Bring On the Bling and I’ve certainly done that.

I don’t generally use that much bling but Christmas is a good excuse to get sparkly isn’t it?

I used silver glimmer paper and rhinestones for my bling and I embossed the sentiment with silver too.

I used one of the leaves from French Foliage to create the Poinsettia.  I just stamped it 3 times with real red, moving the leaf around slightly each time before re-inking. Then I cut it out.  I had seen this done before all in green to make a wreath but I decided to make it a poinsettia instead.  I also stamped a few leaves in gumball green and added them to the back.

Ingredients :

Stamps : French Foliage, Contempo Christmas

Card : real red, white, gumball green, silver glimmer paper, brights dsp stack

Ink : real red, gumball green, versamark

Other : big shot, petals a plenty ef, silver ep, rhinestones

Hopefully I’ll be good this year and not leave all my Christmas stamping till November!

Wedding Congratulations

Well I’ve had a very busy few weeks.

My son got married last weekend and it was such a beautiful wedding!

I thought I would post the wedding card I made for them today and participate in the SUO Challenges Wedding theme.  Their design team have made some beautiful cards.  If you’re in need of some inspiration you should take a look.

I also used a Freshly Made Sketches sketch that my friend Rita created.  Unfortunately I haven’t posted this card in time to enter their challenge, but thanks for the inspiration Rita.

I turned Rita’s sketch on it’s side and used pretty bridal type white and vanilla ribbons and lace for the “flags”.  I was wondering what I could do for the trim at the top though and remembered a trick I had used once before.  I cut the edging off the organza ribbon, wrapped it around the card and tied it in a bow and it looked very pretty.

I used the Always hearts again, embossed with white onto vanilla card and cut around the inner edge and embossed them again with crumb cake onto shimmery white and cut around the outer edge.

I used the needlepoint border embossing folder for the first time too and I like how pretty it looked, especially with the ribbons.

Ingredients :

Stamps : Always, (MDS Congratulations)

Card : crumb cake, shimmery white, vanilla

Ink : crumb cake, versamark

Other : white ep, clear ep, pearls, needlepoint border ef, finial press, ef, big shot, vanilla satin ribbon, organza ribbon, crochet trim, decorative label punch, flower trim

Retiring Tree

I thought I would show you another of my Dirty Dozen cards.  The theme was Neighbourhood.

This uses one of my favourite Stampin Up sets, Forever Young and it’s about to retire :( Actually so is Tiny Tags and the embossing folder too!  :( :( :(

If you live in Tasmania and would like to come to a little Retirement Party I’m having next Saturday please email me for more details.  We will be making some cards with both new and retiring products and I will have some exciting giveaways and retired products for sale too. RSVP by Wednesday please.

embroidered tree card

This is not one of the cards we’ll be making :)  This one took me quite a long while to do as I embroidered little french knots onto the tree to create blossoms. I chose a very pale pink embroidery cotton and it looked very soft and pretty.

Ingredients :

Stamps : Forever Young, tiny tags, very vintage wheel, friendly words wheel

Card : vanilla, black, blushing bride, naturals ivory

Ink : stazon, crumb cake, pip

Other : vanilla seam binding, tag punch, big shot, vintage wallpaper ef, embroidery floss
