Rose with Balloon

I have a tutorial for CC Designs today.

I coloured up the adorable Rose with Balloon stamp with my copics and then I thought I might try creating a Bokeh effect, but with balloons rather than the usual circles. This stamp's matching die comes with two different sized balloons which is exactly what you need to make this effect work. It turned out to be a really pretty background for her so I thought I'd share how I did it.

CC Designs, tutorial, rose with balloon

Firstly I sponged 3 different colours of distress ink on to a shimmery cardstock (Broken china, salty ocean and tumbled glass).

Then I used the Rose and Balloon Outline die to cut out the 2 balloons from a piece of scrap card.

I then used this as my stencil. I used a dauber and a white craft ink pad to make the balloons.

IMG_0788

Sponge white ink onto the blue, using a dabbing motion. These balloon will be in the background.  I also tilted the stencil so that the balloons weren't all going in the same direction.

Then add more balloons, overlapping some.  These are in the foreground.  We want these to be whiter so more ink needs to be dabbed on.  You can move the stencil, making more balloons and then come back later, reposition the stencil, and add more white to certain balloons to make them more prominent.

I hope you give this background technique a try :)

Mia and Butterfly

Hi :)

It's time for another challenge at Bunny Zoe's Crafts.  This one is a little bit different, it's a recipe challenge.  The challenge is to use pink, lace and pearls and it has to be anything but square.

Mia and Butterfly, Wild Rose Studio

I used a very sweet Wild Rose Studio Stamp called Mia and Butterfly. I coloured her with pinks and paper-pieced the pretty butterfly.  The papers are from the Glitz - Love You Madly pad.
The sentiment is from High Hopes and is called Smiling.
I also used some Pearls and Kaisercraft natural lace.

I also have a personalised stamp now, for the back of my cards.  It's lovely isn't it?  I just decided to have my first name and blog address on it. But you can design them however you like.  There are a number of different designs to choose from but this one is Butterfly LG.

I'd like to enter my card into the challenges at :
Papertake Weekly - anything goes
Whimsy Stamps - Diecut
Deep Ocean Challenge - wings

I hope you can join in with our challenge this month.
Thanks for dropping by today :)

Sitting Jane

I made a card with Sitting Jane by Make it Crafty. Isn't she adorable ?!

sitting jane, make it crafty

I decided to try making a Bokeh background, I have seen them around a lot lately but this was my first attempt. I was happy with the way it turned out - soft and pretty.  I just sponged, pretty in pink, wisteria and pool party inks onto shimmery white card and then used white craft ink to sponge different sized circles over the top.

The beautiful sentiment is from the Make it Crafty Doodle Bye Word Chipboard set. I just painted it with some acrylic paint.

Ingredients :
Stamps : Sitting Jane (MIC)
Card : x-press it, shimmery white
Ink : memento black, pool party, pretty in pink, wisteria, white craft
Other : Doodle Bye Word Chipboard , Fleur de Lis Accents (SB), copics

Copics used :
BG 0000, 000, 00, 02, 09, 72
W 00, 1, 3, 5
R 30
E 000, 00, 21, 50, 53, 55
YR 14

I loved colouring this stamp and my 13 yr old daughter said that if the card didn't have the "bye" on it, she would want it for her birthday card. That means she loves it :)

Thanks for dropping by today :)
